Summer Fun!

Between band camps and summer vacations, we still managed to have a lot of fun this summer!  Take a look . . .

Pool party at my house:

and a tour of Bruster’s Ice Cream!

Our sweet Primary President decided to help the Assistant Leader host Activity Days for me when I wasn’t feel well, and threw another pool party!  The girls are so lucky to have so many people that love and support them.

Even with all of the exciting things that we did this summer, the greatest thing about the last few months is the addition of our new Activity Day Girls!  We are so glad to have them with us!

See you next week!

Resurrection Rolls

At our meeting tonight, we talked about how we as Latter-Day Saints focus on Christ’s resurrection during Easter, and not so much his death.  To illustrate this, Sis. Hansen baked the girls “Resurrection Rolls” (for complete instructions, go here.)

Basically, you need the following:

  • Marshmallow = Christ’s body
  • Melted butter = oils for anointing
  • Cinnamon sugar = spices used to prepare body for burial
  • Crescent roll dough triangle = burial linens
  • Oven = the tomb

First, you dip/cover the marshmallow in the melted butter.  Next, you roll the marshmallow in the cinnamon/sugar mixture.  Third, you place the marshmallow in the center of a crescent roll triangle, roll it up tightly, and bake as directed on the crescent roll tube (or until the marshmallow has melted).

This is what you get:

The marshmallow has disappeared!  Just like Christ’s body was no longer in the tomb.

And here are the FABULOUS Longwood Ward Activity Day Girls!

We also started making egg-shaped ornaments for our very own Easter decoration, but I was too busy to get pictures.  The ornaments had pictures of Christ or images that reminded us of him.  All the girls need to do to finish up their project is to find a nice little branch in their backyard to hang the ornaments on and a pot/vase/bucket to stick it in.

Don’t forget!  If you finish this project, please take a picture and email it to me so I can post it on the blog for us all to see!

And a BIG thank you to Sis. Hansen for her help tonight. *HUGS*

Secret Service Agents!

At our Secret Service activity, the girls received “orders” to go through a Secret Service basic training.  These were their practice missions:

  • Find someone in the building and give them a compliment
  • Clean a bathroom mirror.
  • Fill out a tithing slip.
  • Leave a love note on someone’s car window.
  • Fold laundry.
  • Find the secret service.

Here are the girls in action:

The secret service was finding Micah in a room that had been “destroyed by his little sister” (wink wink).  It was quite the mess!

But the girls were not intimidated by this challenge, and had it spic-and-span in no time!

The girls did an excellent job during their service training, and were challenged to continue their secret missions in their homes for at least one week.  Hopefully, some nice things happened around your house following this activity. :)

We ended the evening with our traditional gathering around the piano to sing the Articles of Faith with Sis. McFazdean:

Thanks for coming, girls!  I hope you had as much fun as I did!
